A Minnesota Winter Tradition

The City of Lakes Loppet is a weekend-long winter festival in Minneapolis consisting of 25+ tournaments and races. The annual festival is known nationwide for its urban cross-country ski race that ranks as the second biggest cross country skiing event in the U.S. Other key events include fat tire biking, skijoring, and snow sculpting.

Every year, Duffy Design creates a limited edition, hand screen-printed poster available for purchase that captures the magic of the festival. I had the pleasure of designing the 2017 poster and visual theme of the festival.

Similar to snowflakes, the magic of screenprinting is that no two prints are exactly alike. Every poster has the same basic structure but each one crystalizes into an individual print through the imperfections of the screenprinting process.

The 2017 Loppet poster embraces the unique beauty of Minnesota Winter and a diverse community coming together through the depiction of one intricate, yet subdued, majestic snowflake.
